Hello,
I have recently purchased the Touchjams jukebox software and I am very impressed with the look, features and the ease of use of the product. It does virtually everything I need it to do including the ability to stream internet radio.
I have however, encountered a problem when playing 'live/classical' music albums/files (of which I have numerous). When playing such albums/files there is a noticeable gap or pause between the tracks of the album, they do not flow seamlessly from one to another. This can become annoying after a while and ruins the whole continuity aspect of the 'live/classical' album experience. All of my music CD's have been converted to the same 'flac' lossless format and should therefore play as per the original CD from which they came. I have tried configuring the crossfade feature of the software to eliminate the problem but the results are less than satisfactory.
I have also recently tried other jukebox software's and some, (but not all), have been able to play the music albums/files continuously without the gaps/pauses, so I know it is possible to do so and therefore presume it is not a problem with my flac/playlist files. Is it possible that this is a limitation of the Touchjams software? Does the Touchjams software support gapless/continuous playback? If not, can this possibly be implemented in a future release please? Any feedback on this subject will be much appreciated.
Kind regards.
P.S. Something I found on the internet, this probably explains it better!
What is Gapless Playback?
Gapless playback is when a series of audio tracks are played seamlessly, one after another, without any pauses or clicks in between. Unwanted pauses or clicks between tracks can ruin pieces of music which are split across multiple tracks, especially in cases where the music is not silent at the split points.
A gapless digital audio player will neither insert nor remove silence between tracks; instead it will play an album exactly the same as a CD player would play the original disc.
Gapless playback is not a feature; the lack of gapless playback is a bug, the same as it would be a bug to add a click or pause in the middle of a track. Unfortunately, many digital audio players fail to do gapless playback. Fortunately, the situation is improving.
