Have a windows 10 laptop that connects to a UE boom 2 and Megaboom speaker flawlessly. When I open Touchjams, I get that error in the title. Now, this happened on my prior machine also over a year ago, and somehow I fixed it but for the life of me I cannot figure out how.
I have the speaker set as default output device. It connects on windows startup. Works with Spotify, Youtube and Netflix. Open Touchjams, it closes down due to the error of not being able to initialize...
Turn off speaker, Touchjams opens and plays through PC speakers. Turn on bluetooth, no music comes from the speaker...but windows system sounds do, as does the windows test tone. Rinse and repeat.
Any help would be greatly appreciated...I'm going mad!

Windows 10 update ?? Roll back the drivers/software to last known working version of your Bluetooth device. Bluetooth speakers MUST be on and connected to PC before starting TouchJams. Have you selected the Bluetooth audio device in Touchjams ?
Cheers Tony

Cheers Tony I have changed output device in touchjams settings. I have the Bluetooth device on and connected when I open TJ. It closes itself down on startup due to the error

I had the same problem on a customers new build last week, i found the USB bluetooth device software/chipset was rubbish. I change the bluetooth device to a ASUS USB-BT400 (Broadcom chipset) and it worked straight out of the box. Has the device EVER worked correctly with TouchJams before ??

Its actually a bluetooth dongle that I used on my previous machine . It actually works for everything but touchjams on this pc. Worked with TJ on the previous PC.

If both PC's have the same system on, then it must be a bluetooth driver/software issue. If they are windows 10 PC's, then windows 10 is renowned for breaking bluetooth with updates. There is also a good chance that windows own drivers will not be suitable.
Try rolling back the driver or try the manufactures website for drivers/software. You can also check your previous machines driver version to see what was the working version. Also, check your previous machine, control panel, programs and features and see if you installed any bluetooth drivers/software and what version.
Poor software/drivers will give you the problem you are experiencing with TouchJams, audio will be fine in windows ect but not with Touchjams. Also, make sure the correct bluetooth device is set to default sound device in control panel, sound settings.

Appreciate all your help. I finally just gave up and went old school hardwired. I have an old Sony stereo just sitting around, so I ran an aux line from my laptop to that Sony and it's working really great. Sounds much better anyway

You can't beat old fashioned copper wire, robust connection and better sound quality.
Merry Christmas
