I have been fighting to update to the latest version of Touchjams. When first updated my library of music which was working flawlessly under the beta and previous versions had album art disappear. I followed the instructions to delete the album art folder and covers were corrected. I then noticed albums were missing but were in the music directory scanned and not showing. I deleted the entire database and rescanned the albums hoping that it would correct the problem. It only made matters worse. During the scan of 1TB of music the program would crash and I would have to force quit the program. Thinking it may be a bug I scanned in smaller groups of albums adding 40 artists at at time. This resulted in random albums not scanning into Touchjams but getting past where the software would crash prior. If I delete the database and scan one of the missing albums only it will show in the software. If I scan a larger section of the music it's hit or miss what will show. I am at a loss. If the album scans the software works. Its just trying to get the music into the software as the issue at the moment. Suggestions. The files are not the issue. Again running the beta software on my main jukebox all 110,000 songs are showing. On the test machine for the new version I get about 85,000 songs appearing which is from albums being dropped. Again if I delete the entire database and just add one of the albums that didn't show it will scan without issue.

Quick update, I uninstalled the final release 3.5.2.3 and rolled back to beta 3.5.2.2 and all albums scanned and all albums are showing. Hoping for some assistance.

What i would suggest is, do a totally CLEAN install. BACKUP the following folders, then DELETE them. C:\ProgramData\TouchJams C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\TouchJams UNINSTALL TouchJams via Control Panel. INSTALL Touchjams (August 23, 2021 - Release 3.5.2.3) This will give you the opportunity to see if it will import all your music without any problem. (Just use default skin, ect) You can always go back to your previous version & settings. What i do if i have any doubts about my music import numbers, is search my libraries and get the total TRACK count and compare it to what TouchJams says it has imported.
I have had hiccups with changing versions in the past.
Bob might know if there is any compatibility issues with previous settings.
Cheers

Tony, I did in fact did what you suggested with the same result occurring. Deleted both directories and did uninstall from control panel. The software installs without issue. Using default skin results the same outcome. Software crashes during scan and not all albums are showing. I also have a count of the tracks that encompass the 1TB of music and under the beta all 110,797 tracks are accounted for. Under the final release I had 85,391 that actually scanned. During the scan none of the tracks are reported as invalid. The tracks consist of a mix of FLAC, MP3, WMA, and M4A files.

I have only ever had 1 crash on importing files and that was on a test machine with loads of other stuff going on in the background. The only thing i can suggest is email Bob with all the relevant info and what you have tried and get him on the case. My normal library is 67,702 tracks, but i will try and double it up and see what happens.Sorry i cant help you on this one, Bobs your man, good luck.
EDIT
Just a thought, is the music on an external drive ?? or do you have a usb storage device plugged in the PC ??
I had a strange thing happen the other day while testing, I had left all the settings in TouchJams at default, which the import from usb was selected by default, I plugged in a drive to do something else and the import froze.

First of all, sorry about the poor photos,
I've done some test to confirm that Touchjams can handle you track count.
I DOUBLED my 67702 tracks to 135,379, i got 1 error due to PATH LENGTH. The numbers aren't exactly double due to 24 tracks being in a network location. I can confirm it imported ALL the tracks that it should have.

I then TREBLED it up to 203,057 These were added Incrementally to the "DOUBLE IMPORT"
The numbers aren't exactly TREBLED due to 48 tracks being in a network location. I can confirm it imported ALL the tracks that it should have.

TREBLED it up to 203,057 A full import of the total TREBLE Libraries.(Database reset)
The numbers aren't exactly TREBLED due to 48 tracks being in a network location. I can confirm it imported ALL the ALBUMS, ARTISTS & TRACKS that it should have.
So it looks like it's NOT too many TRACKS then.
I can't check to see if it is an ALBUM count issue, without a major tagging operation.
BTW ALL my TRACKS are MP3. Is it an easy job to import just MP3 ??

wtmac, for songs that aren't being added to the library, are they all the same file type or is it a mix?

They are a mix of file types and it is random. What does not scan the first time will scan the second time if I delete the database and try again. I do not think its a computer issue as there are no issues with any of the other software that I am running. But to rule it out I am going to purchase another hard drive and start from scratch with a fresh OS install.

Thanks Tony for trying to troubleshoot this on your end as well. I did not think it was ever the number of tracks as the BETA and prior versions always worked without issue but it is good to know that Touchjams can handle large collections. All of my files are tagged correctly with cover art embedded. There are no external .jpg files for cover art and the tag fields are set to a minimum Artist Album Artist Album Track # Title Genre Year All of the other tag fields are blank. There are also no long filenames in the actual file or in the tags. I have spent years organizing the tags after getting started with Touchjams and was one of the best and most tedious exercises I have done to manage my music collection. First of all, sorry about the poor photos,

wtmac , i was just verifying the track count, as i don't have the amount of tracks that you have. Sometimes when software is updated, things break, so as it was working ok on the Beta and not on the August 23, 2021 - Release 3.5.2.3, i thought try that first. I'm sure Bob will help you get to the bottom of your issue. "I have spent years organizing the tags after getting started with TouchJams and was one of the best and most tedious exercises I have done to manage my music collection."
Tell me about it, it is never ending, i always spot something that doesn't look right, TOO ME !!
Just a thought, maybe ANTI VIRUS, try disabling it and try an import.

One thing that you could do would be to turn on logging - Options/System/Health. Within there you can find where that log file is written to, please send to support@touchjams.com
Also, chkdsk [path] /f wouldn't hurt.
What type of storage is your music on? Net drive, HD, SSD?
I'm running tests on my machine, comparing 3.5.2.1 with 3.5.2.3 with updating library.
