Howdy Support team.. Still in learning curve... ok I have loaded about 125 albums in Mp3 and Flac format with tag errors after TJ scan... Is there a good tag editor that is recommended to run against the album files on my computer to check tags before I load them in touchjams? Some of the whole albums do not even show up after scan... Is there a preferred tag format for this software? Also is that a max number if albums you can load... Thanks

I use a combination of Tag&Rename, and MP3tag. Both offer free versions and are super simple to figure out. Just copy one of your albums to another folder on your desktop to play with until you get it right and rinse and repeat. I find on the rare occasion a tag/partial tag will not take. I'll fire up the other tagger and it'll fill in those blanks every time. I like to create a "TEST" folder that i can put my newly sorted albums in and update my TJ music library to just look at that to load it and make sure it looks how i want it to in TJ. Limitless number of albums you can load! Have fun with it all! It's a bit of work to sort out an old collection. Back up often to ensure you're keeping all your changes to your collection, and in case you accidentally delete, or misplace music while playing with it.....or, the dreaded hard drive click. Also, google images if your missing cover art. Label it "cover" (without quotes) and drop it in the folder....TJ will find/load the next time you start the software, or drag and drop it into the tag software to save the cover art to each individual song. Winded answer....but, hope it all gets you up to speed quick.

Thanks for the response... I have been using tag&rename to fix many of my albums that were missing tags.. Its not easy for me yet but ill keep trying.. TJ puts all your cover art on the home screen in alphabetical order but I have one album (John Groban collection) that always shows up at the end of the homescreen completely out of sequence... Has anyone else had this problem with other albums? How can I fix or adjust the sequencing?

Try opening it up in another tag editor to see if your tags are taking! Sometimes one tag editor will not stick for some reason as i mentioned earlier. Here's a trick too. If there's a space/Capital....something you aren't seeing in the tag at face value, it will sequence different. Load the entire discography (all albums) into tag and rename all at once. And, re tag the entire column for "Artist" and save. They will all universally save under that new name and will be consistent. I'll usually do this out of habit to ensure that all "artist" tags are uniform if i'm playing with one artist and several albums. Try that and let me know if that sorts it proper for you? This is good habit too, if you notice that the same album comes up several times. "Album" name may have a slight variation in it.

thanks again... this is really giving me fit... I have say Chicago greatest hits (1982-1989) album with 19 songs on it on my home computer.. when I bring it up in tag&rename is shows all 19 of the songs from the album in green or white (not red) however, I remove the sd card with the Chicago album on it and move it to my jukebox (Windows 10) tablet it scans with TJ but several of the songs are missing... when I carry it back and open it in tag&rename on my computer again is shows the missing songs in red now (tags gone)... pulling my hair out over this one... Note: I checked the original and the copy with T&R before moving the sd card to my jukebox.. it like the TJ scan is removing tags :-(

Have you tried opening up the album in another tag editor software like MP3tag? Chances are your tags aren't taking with T&R. It may show that they are in Tag and Rename but, may not stick. Try opening it up and viewing it and seeing if tags are missing. Also, another tip if you're doing a big edit on your music collection on one computer (home computer), download a trial of TJ for that pc just to get through your editing on that pc before you transfer the media to a thumb drive over to your jukebox pc. I'll set the demo to look at a "TEST" folder only and run it through after doing edits to see if anythings off that i need to go back and pay attention to. It'll take you a bit to figure out the ins and outs of tagging. No tag software is 100%. That's why its a good idea to run it through a second or even third tag software if necessary to get it right.
NOTE: Try MP3tag (I prefer this over Tag and Rename for single albums). I'll use Tag and Rename as my secondary or if i need to do an entire discography.
Good luck!

Can you zip up the album and upload it to any file hosting site, i will download the album and have a look at it for you ??
Or open album in mp3tag, select all, go file, export, html_mp3tag, save file. Add this file to you post via the "Add Attachments" button.
I will have a look at the tags for you.
This is an example of what you should produce mp3tag.html (9.88 KB)

Rename album from The Chicago Story: The Complete Greatest Hits By removing : and replacing with - To The Chicago Story - The Complete Greatest Hits
Don't forget to UPDATE the Music library after the tag change.
